LightHouse Gospel Church is a Biblical based church in the heart of Underwood on the Southside of Brisbane, Queensland. Although our members come from a range of backgrounds and denominations, we have been described as Classic Pentecostal.
Our church services are held on Sunday Mornings on a well-established corner property with serene and picturesque grounds. The facility has a house and extension, affectionately called the ‘White House’.
LightHouse Gospel Church actually began over 20 years ago as part of Pastor Philip Powell’s Christian Witness Ministries. We met originally in Michael’s Oriental Restaurant, but eventually moved to the Adventist Church on Logan Road at Mount Gravatt where we held Sunday afternoon meetings for several years.
When it was decided to hold morning meetings, a new location had to be found and the church was established in our current location and re-named Christian Witness Ministries Fellowship. Here, we grew steadily under the leadership of Pastor Philip until his Home calling and then under the leadership of Jeff Pitman along with Elders and Deacons appointed by the church.
In late 2021 after much prayer and consultation with the members of the congregation we decided to change our name to LightHouse Gospel Church and after Jeff’s resignation in 2022 we have chosen to adopt the Biblical position espoused in the Book of Acts, for a Church being guided by a Board of Elders for Pastoral considerations and a Board of Deacons for the actual management of the church.
We are a Biblical based church where the preaching and teaching of the Word of God is paramount and where regular Fellowship, Prayer and Bible Study are encouraged. We hold regular church fellowship lunches once a month after a Sunday service and have regular men’s and women’s activities which promote both fellowship and understanding the call of God upon our lives.
With a vibrant music ministry, children’s church and regular prayer meetings, we endeavour to cater to families of all ages and sizes. Indeed, we frequently refer to ourselves as a family of families, where love and care for each other is always a prime consideration. We hope to make everyone feel welcome.
